Exclusive Interview with Gerre - Tankard!!!!!!

- Hell-o Gerre!!! Thanks for your time to answer this interview. This is a very big honor for me to talk to

you! Really! Believe me, I have destroyed a Thousand Beers to created this interview!! hahahhh How are

you doing? How is thing going around so far?

- first of all thanx a lot and it is a big honour to come to Thailand the very first time! At the moment I’m very busy with

my work and all the activities of tankard. But we are really looking forward to all the things will happen in the near

future!

- Let's start from the beginning… 1982!! It's almost 30 YEARS! The mighty TANKARD still show the

damned whimps who they are!! What was the bands that influence you in the early days? I think

Tankard started about the same time Thrash Metal ever exist on the Earth? Please tell us the old story

during the first demo 'Heavy Metal Vanguard' and 'Alcoholic Metal'?

- first of all frank and me were listening to ac/cd the first time in 1978 and we really love it! Since these days we were

really into hard music. In the beginning of the eighties we were great fans of the new wave of British heavy metal

and listened to bands like iron maiden, Judas Priest, Tank, Jaguar, Tygers of Pan tang, etc. Later on we listened to

the first albums of Exodus, Metallica and Slayer and really found out that this is the kind of metal for us. As our farmer

guitar player Axel Katzmann also listened to Punk Music you can really say that we were influenced of the early 80ties

metal and punk music, later on we were influenced by thrash and speed of course!

- Some years later in 1986. The year of Zombie Attack! This is totally my Classic Thrash Metal LP of all

time! What was the film that influence you to crate the zombie track?(Hope you are not too drunk to

remember!) Seriously, I'm a big fan of George A. Romero's film and I really enjoy Zombie Attack. Let say

the whole album. I guess this would be also your favourite album? Anyway, what is your favorite

Zombie movies? Do you perfer the old school Zombie with slow walking or the running bastard moving

too fast? Well, Zombie and Thrash are going really good together after some beers hahaha. Actually I

just finished my 2nd time watching Survival of the Dead. What the latest zombie movie you have

watched?

- in the beginning of the eighties we were really watching a lot of zombie movies, but to be honest I really can`t

remember of all the names of the movies, much too long ago………..hahahaha.. Today I don`t watch to horror

movies anymore, my life is horror enough hahahaha! But “Zombie Attack” is really one of my fave tankard albums, just

because it is the first. We still play some songs of it live, but I really love the stuff of the last ten years too!

- Stop.. the… Chemical Invasion!!! The other 'Fight for the Beer' album. Also the lyrics dealing with drug

and political stuff. I'm just wondering the import beer is really that bad? They are really poison? Of

course I really enjoy my local beer but I'm also drink some import one as well. Also the cover track that

appears by the end, the Gang Green's Alcohol! You were also into Punk back in those days? Please share

us your taste in Punk?

- as I told you Axel were really into Punk and loved bands like exploited and UK subs! As we didn`t like chemicals in

beer, we thought to write a song about it, so you have to see it with a lot of humour and don`t take it too seriously

as all the stuff we do!

- The Morning After..!!! After 2 album with full of beers, it's time to think about what was going on last

night! hahaha!!!( I have this many time though…) This is the fastest Tankard album and also the first

album I get to know Tankard back then. How did the idea to do the grinding love song 'Mon Cheri' come

from? You were really Napalm Death's fan back in the day?

- yeah we were listening to napalm death and wanted really to do a song like this, as far as I can remember I had the

idea to write a love song with ultra hard riffs, just a typical tankard joke!!!!

- The Mini-LP "Alien"! The first time the Alien has been introduced to the scene. I love all Kruger has done

for Tankard but this one is really unique for me. Please tell us how did you get to work with Mr.

Sebastian Kruger? By the way, what was your inspiration to write the 666 Packs?

- we know Mr. Krueger from his artwork for destructions mad butcher, so we contacted him and he worked the very

first in 1987 for us crating the wonderful chemical invasion cover. We really wanted to do a joke of all these black

metal bands, so we wrote a funny song about Satan, evil and all that silly stuff!

- The Very Best of Tankard 'Hair of the Dog' has included all from above. Let's move along far away later

to another the 'best of' album, the "Best Case Scenario: 25 Years In Beers". It's really great feeling to

hear the classic tracks with different sounds. Even though I love the 80's sounds but the new record still

kills! How do you satisfy with this release? I alway listen to them both in the same time!! haha just to

hear the "25 Years" later!

- we are rally satisfied with that output, we just wanted to feel the same spirit with a better sound, so no changing of

any arrangements of the songs. Also the limited edition with all the cover-versions is great, I really love them all. A

great honour for us that so many bands were ready and interested to cover tankard-songs!

- Triple Six also released it out on cassette tape. Have you seen the artwork yet? How do you think about

their work? What do you think about the cassette tape release in general?

- yes we saw the artwork already and we really like it! I t sounds very funny to us to bring out cassettes for promotion,

because here in Europe this medium is really dead. I think it is a great idea and let me think back in the eighties!!!!

- You are coming here to destroy Bangkok's stage! You are coming to Thailand!!!! Fucking punch me in

the face to prove it is real ahaha! How did the deal happen? What reasons that made you come over

here?

- I met Apirak and Pira here in Frankfurt when they were travelling to the partisan festival. They were very nice

persons, we talked a lot and the idea was born to organize a show in Thailand. Fucking great, that this comes true

now. We have to thank apirak and Pira thousand times!!!

- What do you know about Thailand in general? What do you know about Metal Scene and what do you

expect to see here in your live show? Have you ever heard any of Thrash Metal band from here? We have

some of Thrash Metal band but very fews that still moves on. Please also say something you know about

the whole Asian Metal scene or bands?

- to be honest I know just a couple of things of your country from TV, but our guitar player Andy visited Thailand a

couple of times and he really loves the country, the sea, the people, the food! I don`t know so much about the

metal scene in Asia, but I know that the people listen all over the world to the best kind of music! So can you tell me

some good bands?Huh

- Holy Moses the first album called "Queen of Siam"? Do you know any thing behind this title? Also " One

Night in Bangkok" from Sodom, have you ever heard them from this live LP?

- I have both albums and like them but never thought what behind the title of holy moses could be, sorry!

- Teutonic Thrash is the Best!!! We fuck the fuckin' rest!!! How do you think about what I have just

mentioned!? What do you think about Sodom, Kreator and Destruction since their early day until now?

Which one/album is your personal favorite?

- Sodom: agent orange, Kreator: pleasure to kill; destruction: mad butcher! I still like all three bands also the new stuff,

but as I am a child of the eighties I prefer the old stuff! I don`t really know if teutonic thrash is the best, that`s your

opinion, but these here including tankard of course (hahaha….) are the famous ones in Germany!

- Here we come to the topic "second wave of German Thrash Metal". I guess I would talk about acts like

Desaster, Witchburner and Nocturnal. What do you think about their works? Do you see any different

between each generation? I heard from Andy of Witchburner that you both are friends? He has been

here almost every year for holiday and even done a quick jam session on" Agent Orange" with local

Thrash Metal band "Nuclear Warfare" hahaa.. I really wanted to see Witchburner lives but then the only

Bassist on stage is better than nothing! Anyway, How did you get in touch with Andy? What do you

share between each other on these day?

- I got some albums of Desaster and Witchburner and think that they are quite good bands, hope that they gonna

have more success the nex time! I know Andy of Witchburner and when we meet we gonna have some beer

together and talk about music! The main difference between us and the new generation: we are more fat and have

more grey hair hahahahaha……

- There was a big Wave of new Thrash Metal band during the mid of 2000. Thrash never die!!! You could

still hear some Bay Area, Cross Over…etc or even total Teutonic Thrash influences from them. Many of

them are even mixed up everything and put it out together! What do you think about each style? Do

you see anything unique from German Thrash compare with the others? How do you think about the

new bands, new generation? Recommend us some good one who appears with the spirit? Do you find

any of them plays Alcoholic Thrash Metal like Tankard?

- we are the only band playing alcoholic thrash metal!!!!! Better thrash metal combine with a lot of humour, that really

fits to us!!!! Sorry, but I want to talk so much about other bands, everybody can do what they want, everybody can

mix what they want, we play thrash metal since 29 years and we are really still into it and love that kind of music!

- Tankard has released many officially patches and also many bootleg has been done. Do you collected

them all? Are you a patch maniac? What do you think about the maniacs with full of patches on their

kutte? Many young kids fill up their vest left no space just to show off how bad ass their looks hehehe.

- I really try to collect everything of tankard including the patches and I really have a lot of stuff but not all I guess!

The kids with their kutte really reminds me again on the eighties and I rally love them!

- I'm sure your vinyl collection might be very huge!? What bands have you completed their discography?

What is your rarest stuff you have own? What do you think is the rarest thing for Tankard collection?

I have the promo stuff which I have no idea what it's called. I got it for free from my friend. It's come as

a piece of thing kind of like the photo film but it could spin like 7". It's Tankard's Commandments split

with Celtic Frost's Roses Without Thorns. I don't know this would be some piece of crab for someone.

I don't say this is my rare stuff but I think this is really strange record and I love it! What do you think

about the people who paid a big money to get some rare stuff from ebay?

- my cd collection is much bigger: I guess I have 4000 cds and 800 vinyls. My favourite bands of the eighties: anvil,

omen, exciter, exodus, etc. of course I have all their albums and completed discographies! The rarest stuff o tankard

I have are different test albums without any label on it. Of course I have this split single with celtic frost too.

Everybody can do what they want, I never would spend so much money for such a stuff, except our own hahaha….

- What do you think about the Accept "Blood of the Nations? Which one is your favorite track? What is

your Accept favorite album?

- what a great comeback, I really love the old stuff too, so my favourite albums is restless and wild, on the new album

the best track is teutonic terror I think, rally a great hit!

- What is your Motorhead favorite album? Why? Do you think when you get the same age as Lemmy you

are still trashing the stage?

- I really like motörhead, especially that they are still there and never gave up! But I really prefer the older stuff like ace

of spades and overkill, the songs on these albums are more catchy, but the new stuff is also ok! Singing empty

tankard with the age of 65?Huh? That would be too cool……………

- The "VOL(L)UME 14" is already out. My copy is on its way to get to my hands. It's taking some time from

there to get here especially the LP hhaha. Well, as I didn't get to hear it yet, what would you say about

the album? It goes in the same direction like other released or any surprise? My German is not good at

all but I heard that VOL(L) is also means drunk in German language or something? But of course I know

PROST!!! YEAHH… PROST!!!

- we changed the producer, so the new album sounds a bit more transparent, not so bombastic as the other ones

before! I think it`s still old school thrash with, maybe a little more melodic as the albums before, but still typical

tankard. Voll means in German drunk, so we did a little word game out of it!!!! As you can see on the cover, there

are 14 full bottles of beer and 6 places are left for bottles, so you can expect another 6 full length albums of

Tankard!!!!!

- This is my traditional interview question.Please give me the list of your 10 Thrash Metal of all time?

ไปหลายขวดเลยกว่าจะทำบทสัมภาษณ์นี้เสร็จ!! (หัวเราะ) เป็นไงบ้างครับช่วงนี้

ก่อนอื่นต้องขอขอบคุณมาก และนับเป็นเกียรติสำหรับพวกเรามากๆเช่นกันที่จะได้ไปเยือนประเทศไทยเป็น ครั้งแรก! ช่วงนี้ผมยุ่งมากๆทั้ง

เรื่องงานประจำที่ทำอยู่ รวมทั้งงานของวง Tankard ด้วย แต่ยังไงพวกเราก็กำลังรออย่างจดจ่อถึงงานที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคตอันใกล้นี้

- ขอย้อนกลับไปยังจุดเริ่มต้นของวงในปี 1982 มันก็เกือบจะ 30 ปีมาแล้ว! Tankard ผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ก็ยังคงแสดงแสนยานุภาพให้

แฟนๆได้ประจักษ์ถึงเอกลักษณ์ของวงที่ ไม่เคยเปลี่ยนแปลง!! ช่วงแรกๆที่เริ่มก่อตั้งวงพวกคุณได้รับอิทธิพลมาจากวงอะไร

บ้าง ผมคิดว่า Tankard เริ่มต้นขึ้นพร้อมๆกับที่มีแนวดนตรี Thrash Metal ถือกำเนิดขึ้นในโลกเลยก็ว่าได้ ช่วยเล่าให้เราฟังถึง

เรื่องราวในยุคเก่าๆตั้งแต่ช่วงออกเดโมตัวแรกๆของวง อย่าง Heavy Metal Vanguard และ Alcoholic Metal หน่อยครับ

เริ่มแรก เลย Frank กับผมได้ฟังเพลงของวง AC/DC เป็นครั้งแรกในปี 1978 แล้วพวกเราก็โคตรชอบมากๆ! ตั้งแต่นั้นมาเราสองคนก็เสพกัน

แต่เพลงหนักๆ จนมาถึงยุคต้น 80s เราก็กลายเป็นแฟนเพลงตัวยงของดนตรี NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) แล้วก็เริ่ม

หันมาฟังวงอย่าง  Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Tank, Jaguar, Tygers of Pan Tang ฯลฯ ไม่นานนักเราก็เริ่มมาฟังอัลบัมแรกๆของวง

Exodus, Metallica และ Slayer แล้วพบว่าดนตรีเมตัลแบบนี้แหละที่พวกเรารอมานานแล้ว นอกจากนี้มือกีตาร์ยุคก่อตั้งวงของเรา Axel

Katzmann ก็ฟัง Punk อยู่แล้วด้วย เพราะฉะนั้นก็น่าจะพูดได้ว่ายุคแรกๆในการทำวงของเรา เราได้รับอิทธิพลมาจากดนตรี Metal และ Punk

ของยุคต้น 80s และแน่นอนว่าไม่นานหลังจากนั้นเราก็ได้อิทธิพลมาจาก Thrash และ Speed Metal!

- ไม่กี่ปีต่อมาในปี 1986 ปีแห่งการจู่โจมของผีดิบคืนชีพ Zombie Attack! อัลบั้มนี้ถือเป็นงานคลาสสิค Thrash Metal ของ

ผมตลอดกาล! ภาพยนตร์เรื่องไหนเป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้คุณอยากทำเพลงเกี่ยวกับ Zombie (หวังว่าคงไม่เมาเกินไปจนจำไม่

ได้!) จริงๆแล้วผมเป็นแฟนหนังตัวยงของ George A. Romero และเมามันกับเพลงในชุด Zombie Attack มาก พูดได้เลยว่า

ชอบหมดทั้งอัลบัม ถ้าให้เดาอัลบัมนี้ก็น่าจะเป็นอัลบัมที่คุณชอบที่สุดเหมือนกันใช่ไหม ไม่ว่ายังไงขอถามหน่อยว่าหนัง

Zombie เรื่องไหนที่คุณชอบมากที่สุด คุณชอบZombie ยุคต้นฉบับแบบที่เดินช้าๆเซื่องๆ หรือว่าชอบแบบวิ่งตะครุบเหยื่อเร็ว

ปรี๊ด? ผมว่า Zombie กับ Thrash Metal เข้ากันได้ดีมากๆเวลาซดเบียร์ (หัวเราะ) ที่จริงผมเพิ่งจะดูหนังเรื่อง Survival of the

Dead จบไปเป็นรอบที่ 2 เมื่อไม่นานมานี้ แล้วคุณล่ะได้ดูหนัง Zombie เรื่องล่าสุดเรื่องอะไร

ช่วงยุคต้น 80s พวกเราได้ดูหนัง Zombie กันเยอะมากๆ แต่สารภาพตามตรงว่าผมจำชื่อหนังไม่ได้แล้วจริงๆ มันโคตรนานมาแล้วว่ะ...

(หัวเราะ) ทุกวันนี้ผมไม่ได้ดูหนังสยองขวัญแล้ว เพราะแค่ชีวิตตัวเองก็สยองพอแล้ว! (หัวเราะ) แต่อัลบัม Zombie Attack ถือเป็นหนึ่งใน

อัลบัมที่ผมชอบที่สุดจริงๆ แต่เพียงเพราะว่ามันเป็นงานชุดแรกก็เท่านั้น พวกเรายังคงเลือกหยิบหลายๆเพลงจากอัลบัมนี้มาเล่นสดกันอยู่จนถึง

ทุกวันนี้ แต่ผมก็ชอบงานในยุค 10 ปีหลังมานี้เหมือนกันนะ!

- Stop.. the… Chemical Invasion!!! เป็นอีกอัลบัมหนึ่งที่แสดงความมุ่งมั่นอย่างแรงกล้าในการดื่มเบียร์ เนื้อหาบางเพลง

ยังพูดถึงยาเสพย์ติดและเรื่องการเมืองด้วย ผมอดสงสัยไม่ได้ว่าเบียร์ที่นำเข้านี่มันแย่ขนาดนั้นเลยเหรอ แน่นอนว่าผมหลงใหล

กับเบียร์ไทยแต่ก็คิดว่าเบียร์นำเข้ามันก็สุดยอดไม่แพ้กัน นะ นอกจากนี้เพลงคัฟเวอร์ในช่วงท้ายอัลบัมอย่าง Gang Green’s

Alcohol ก็ทำให้อดสงสัยไม่ได้ว่ายุคนั้นพวกคุณฟัง Punk กันด้วยใช่ไหม ช่วยเล่าให้ฟังถึงรสนิยมในการฟัง Punk ของพวก

คุณหน่อยสิ

ก็อย่างที่ บอกว่ายุคนั้น Axel ฟัง Punk เยอะมากจริงๆ แล้วก็คลั่งไคล้พวกวงอย่าง Exploited และ UK Subs มากๆด้วย! ส่วนเรื่องเบียร์ ก็

แค่พวกเราไม่ชอบสารเคมีที่ใส่ผสมลงไปในเบียร์ ก็เลยคิดกันว่าอยากจะเขียนเพลงเกี่ยวกับเรื่องนี้ เพราะฉะนั้นเวลาฟังเพลงนี้ผมอยากให้คุณ

ฟังด้วยอารมณ์ขันมากๆ อย่าซีเรียส!

- The Morning After…!!! หลังจากที่ดื่มหนักติดต่อกันมา 2 ชุดเต็ม ชุดนี้ก็ได้เวลานึกย้อนกลับไปแล้วว่าเมื่อคืนกูทำอะไรลง

ไปวะ! (หัวเราะ – ผมก็ทำแบบนี้บ่อยๆเหมือนกัน...) อัลบัมนี้ถือว่าเป็นอัลบัมที่เล่นเร็วที่สุดของ Tankard และนับเป็นอัลบัมชุด

แรกที่ทำให้ผมได้รู้จักกับ Tankard ในตอนนั้น อะไรเป็นไอเดียในการทำเพลงรัก สไตล์ Grindcore อย่างเพลง Mon Cheri

ครับ ยุคนั้นคุณก็เป็นแฟนเพลงของ Napalm Death ด้วยเหรอ

ใช่ ตอนนั้นพวกเราฟัง Napalm Death แล้วก็อยากจะทำเพลงสไตล์นี้ขึ้นมา เท่าที่จำได้ตอนนั้นผมมีไอเดียว่าจะเขียนเพลงรักโดยใช้

ริฟฟ์กีตาร์หนักๆโหดๆ หน่อย ก็ขำๆตามสไตล์ Tankard!!!!

- Mini-LP ชุด Alien นับเป็นการปรากฎตัวครั้งแรกของเอเลี่ยนขี้เมา ผมชอบงานที่ Krüger ทำให้กับวง Tankard ทุกชิ้น แต่

ชิ้นนี้นับว่าเป็นงานที่มีเอกลักษณ์มากจริงๆ ช่วยเล่าให้ฟังหน่อยว่าคุณมาร่วมงานกับ Sebastian Krüger ได้ยังไง แล้วอะไร

เป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้คุณเขียนเพลงอย่าง 666 Packs

พวกเรา รู้จัก Krüger จากงาน Artwork ที่เขาเคยทำให้กับ Destruction – Mad Butcher ก็เลยลองติดต่อดู แล้วเขาก็เริ่มทำงานให้เราตั้ง

แต่อัลบัมชุดแรกๆในปี 1987 โดยการสร้างสรรค์หน้าปกอัลบัมอย่าง Chemical Invasion ให้ ส่วนเพลง 666 Packs ตอนนั้นเราอยากแซว

พวกวงแบล็กเมตัลสนุกๆ ก็เลยแต่งเพลงขำๆเกี่ยวกับซาตาน ปีศาจ อะไรพวกนี้ออกมา

- ชุดรวม ฮิต Hair of the Dog เป็นงานรวมเพลงที่ดีที่สุดของ Tankard ในทุกอัลบัมที่กล่าวมาก่อนหน้านี้ทั้งหมด แต่ในที่นี้

เราจะมาพูดถึงชุดรวมฮิตที่ออกมาหลังจากนั้นอีกชุดนึงคือ Best Case Scenario: 25 Years In Beers มันเป็นความรู้สึกที่

โคตรเจ๋งเลย เวลาที่ได้ฟังเพลงคลาสสิกยุคเก่าๆในซาวน์ดที่ต่างออกไป ถึงแม้ว่าผมจะชอบซาวน์ดในยุค 80s แต่ซาวน์ดใหม่ก็

โหดไม่แพ้กัน! คุณพอใจกับงานชุดนี้มากน้อยแค่ไหน ผมมักจะฟังทั้ง 2 ชุดนี้ต่อกัน (หัวเราะ) แต่จะชอบฟัง Best Case

Scenario ทีหลังน่ะ!

พวกเราพอใจกับ ผลงานที่ออกมามากๆ แค่อยากจะนึกถึงพลังของเพลงแบบเก่าๆด้วยซาวน์ดที่ดีขึ้น ดังนั้นจะไม่มีการเรียบเรียงเพลงใหม่ใดๆ

ทั้งสิ้น อีกอย่างการทำหน้าปกเป็นเวอร์ชั่น Limited Edition หลายๆแบบก็เป็นไอเดียที่สุดยอดมากๆ ผมชอบทุกเวอร์ชั่นเลยจริงๆ นับเป็น

เกียรติของพวกเราที่มีวงดนตรีหลายๆวงพร้อมและสนใจที่จะเล่นคัฟเวอร์ เพลงของ Tankard!

- ร้าน Triple Six ออกงานชุดนี้ในรูปแบบคาสเซ็ตต์เทปด้วย คุณได้เห็นอาร์ตเวิร์คหรือยัง คิดว่างานที่พวกเขาทำออกมาเป็นยัง

ไงบ้าง คุณคิดยังไงกับการออกงานเป็นคาสเซ็ตต์เทปในปัจจุบัน

ใช่ พวกเราได้เห็นอาร์ตเวิร์คแล้วและชอบมากๆ! สำหรับเรามันก็ตลกดีนะที่จะออกงานเป็นคาสเซ็ตต์เทปเพื่อโปรโมตคอนเสิร์ต เพราะที่ยุโรป

เพื่อพิสูจน์ว่านี่มันเรื่องจริง! (หัวเราะ) แล้วไปตกลงกันได้ยังไงครับ อะไรทำให้คุณตัดสินใจมาที่นี่

ผมได้เจอ Apirak กับ Pira ที่แฟรงค์เฟิร์ตตอนที่พวกเขามางานเทศกาล Party San Metal Open Air พวกเขาเป็นเพื่อนที่ดีมากๆ คืนนั้นเรา

คุยกันเยอะมากแล้วจู่ๆก็เกิดไอเดียเรื่องการจัดคอนเสิร์ตที่ ประเทศไทยขึ้น โคตรสุดยอดเลยที่วันนี้มันกลายเป็นเรื่องจริงขึ้นมาได้ ต้องขอบ

คุณพวกเขามากๆ!!!

- คุณรู้อะไรเกี่ยวกับประเทศไทยบ้าง และคุณรู้อะไรบ้างเกี่ยวกับแวดวง Metal ของเรา คุณหวังว่าจะได้เห็นอะไรในงานแสดง

สดของพวกคุณที่นี่บ้าง คุณเคยได้ยินชื่อหรือรู้จักวง Thrash Metal จากที่นี่บ้างไหม พวกเรามีวง Thrash อยู่บ้างเหมือนกัน

แต่มีไม่กี่วงเท่านั้นที่ยังคงเคลื่อนไหวอยู่ นอกจากนี้อยากให้ช่วยพูดถึงสิ่งที่คุณรู้เกี่ยวกับแวดวง Metal หรือวงดนตรีของเอเซีย

ว่ากันตามตรงผมรู้จักประเทศของคุณ ไม่มากนักจากการดูทีวี แต่มือกีตาร์ของเรา Andy เคยไปเมืองไทย 2-3 ครั้งและเขาก็รักเมืองไทย

มากๆ ทั้งประเทศ ทะเล ผู้คน และอาหาร! ผมไม่ค่อยรู้อะไรมากนักเกี่ยวกับแวดวง Metal ในทวีปเอเซีย รู้แต่ว่าใครก็ตามในโลกนี้ที่ฟังเพลง

Metal ถือได้ว่าคุณได้ฟังแนวดนตรีที่ดีที่สุดแล้ว! ถ้ายังไงคุณช่วยบอกวงดีๆให้ผมรู้จักหน่อยก็แล้วกัน

- อัลบัมแรกของ Holy Moses ที่ชื่อ Queen of Siam ล่ะ คุณรู้เบื้องหลังอะไรภายใต้ชื่ออัลบัมชุดนี้บ้างไหม แล้วก็ One

Night in Bangkok จากวง Sodom ด้วย คุณเคยฟังเพลงของพวกเขาจาก LP แสดงสดชุดนี้หรือยัง

ผมมีทั้ง 2 อัลบัมที่คุณพูดมา และชอบทั้งคู่ แต่ยังไม่เคยคิดเหมือนกันว่าชื่ออัลบัมของ Holy Moses น่าจะมีเบื้องหลังอะไรซ่อนอยู่ โทษที!

- Teutonic Thrash is the Best!!!  We fuck the fuckin’ rest!!! คิดยังไงกับคำพูดนี้ครับ!? คุณคิดยังไงกับวง Sodom,

Kreator และ Destruction ตั้งแต่ยุคแรกๆจนถึงปัจจุบัน วงไหนและอัลบัมใดที่ถูกใจคุณที่สุด

Sodom – Agent Orange, Kreator – Pleasure to Kill, Destruction – Mad Butcher! ผมยังคงชอบทั้ง 3 วงนี้อยู่จนถึงปัจจุบัน รวม

ทั้งงานใหม่ๆของพวกเขาด้วย แต่เนื่องจากว่าผมเป็นเด็กที่โตมากับยุค 80s ผมจึงโหยหางานเก่าๆมากกว่า! ผมไม่รู้จริงๆว่า Teutonic

Thrash (เยอรมันแธรชเมตัล) มันเจ๋งที่สุดแล้วหรือเปล่า นั่นมันก็เป็นความเห็นส่วนตัวของคุณ แต่ทั้ง 3 วงที่พูดมารวมทั้ง Tankard

(หัวเราะ) แน่นอนว่าเป็นวงที่โด่งดังที่สุดในเยอรมนีอย่างแน่นอน!

- เอาล่ะ ตอนนี้ขอข้ามมาคุยถึง Second Wave of German Thrash Metal กันบ้าง คุณคงเดาได้ว่าผมจะขอคุยเกี่ยวกับวง

อย่าง Desaster, Witchburner และ Nocturnal คุณคิดยังไงกับงานเพลงของพวกเขา คุณเห็นความแตกต่างในแต่ละยุค

บ้างไหม ผมได้ยินจาก Andy วง Witchburner ว่าพวกคุณสองคนเป็นเพื่อนกัน เขาเดินทางมาเที่ยวช่วงวันหยุดในเมืองไทย

เกือบจะทุกปี และเคยร่วมแจมสั้นๆในเพลง Agent Orange กับวงแธรชเมตัลของไทยอย่าง Nuclear Warfare ด้วย (หัวเราะ)

ที่จริงผมอยากดูแสดงสดของวง Witchburner มากๆ แต่การได้เห็นมือเบสของวงเพียงคนเดียวบนเวทีก็ยังดีกว่าไม่ได้ดูอะไร

เลย! แล้วคุณล่ะยังติดต่อกับ Andy อยู่ไหม มีโอกาสได้ทำอะไรร่วมกันบ้างไหมในช่วงนี้

ผมมีงานบางอัลบัมของวง Desaster และ Witchburner อยู่ และคิดว่าพวกเขาก็เป็นวงที่มีฝีมืออีกวงหนึ่ง หวังว่าพวกเขาจะประสบความ

สำเร็จมากยิ่งขึ้นไปอีกในโอกาสต่อๆไป! ผมเป็นเพื่อนกับ Andy วง Witchburner และทุกครั้งเวลาเราเจอกันก็จะกินเบียร์ด้วยกันและคุยกัน

เรื่องเพลง! ส่วนข้อแตกต่างระหว่างพวกเรากับวงยุคใหม่ก็คือ พวกเราอ้วนกว่าและหัวหงอกกว่าเยอะ!! (หัวเราะ)

- มีวงแธรชเมตัล หน้าใหม่เกิดขึ้นเยอะมากในช่วงกลางปี 2000 ถือเป็นการโหนกระแส Thrash Never Die ครั้งใหญ่เลยที

เดียว คุณจะได้ยินงานเพลงที่ติดอิทธิพลจาก Bay Area, Cross Over ฯลฯ หรือแม้แต่ Teutonic Thrash เองก็ตามจากงาน

ของพวกเขา มีหลายๆวงที่จับนั่นผสมนี่ รวมทุกอย่างเข้าด้วยกันไปหมด! คุณคิดยังไงกับสไตล์ดนตรี Thrash Metal แต่ละ

สไตล์ คิดว่า German Thrash มีเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัวอะไรที่ต่างไปจากสไตล์อื่นๆบ้างไหม และคิดยังไงกับวงใหม่ๆ หรือพวกวง

ยุคใหม่ๆ อยากให้คุณช่วยแนะนำวงดีๆสัก 2-3 วงที่ทำงานด้วยอุดมการณ์ให้พวกเรารู้จักหน่อย คุณเจอวงรุ่นใหม่วงไหนบ้าง

หรือยังที่เล่นสไตล์ Alcoholic Thrash Metal แบบ Tankard

พวกเราเป็นวงเดียวที่เล่น Alcoholic Thrash Metal!!!!! เป็น Thrash Metal ในแบบที่สนุกกว่า และนำมาผสมกับอารมณ์ขัน นี่แหละสิ่งที่ทำ

ให้เราเป็นเรา!!!! ขอโทษที แต่ผมไม่ค่อยอยากพูดถึงวงอื่นๆสักเท่าไหร่ ทุกคนมีสิทธิทำในสิ่งที่ตัวเองต้องการ ทุกคนสามารถเลือกผสมอะไร

ก็ได้ที่พวกเขาอยากจะเล่น พวกเราเล่น Thrash Metal มาตลอด 29 ปี และยังฟังมาเรื่อยๆจนถึงทุกวันนี้ และมันเป็นแนวดนตรีที่พวกเรารักที่

สุด!

- Tankard ทำ patch ลิขสิทธิ์ออกมาขายเยอะมาก แต่ก็มีงาน bootleg ออกมาเยอะเหมือนกัน คุณสะสมทั้งหมดเลยไหม

แล้วคุณเป็นพวกชอบเก็บสะสม patch ด้วยหรือเปล่า คุณคิดยังไงกับคนที่ชอบติด patch เต็มเสื้อกั๊ก มีเด็กรุ่นใหม่ๆจำนวน

มากติด patch เต็มเสื้อกั๊กจนไม่มีที่ว่างเหลือสักนิดเดียวเพียงเพื่อแค่อยากจะ show off ให้คนอื่นเห็นว่าพวกเขาเท่ห์ขนาด

ผมพยายามเก็บสะสมของ ทุกอย่างที่เกี่ยวกับ Tankard รวมทั้ง patch ด้วย และผมก็มีเยอะมากๆแต่คิดว่าคงยังไม่ใช่ทั้งหมด! พวกเด็กรุ่น

ใหม่ที่ใส่กั๊กติด patch ทำให้ผมนึกถึงตัวเองในยุค 80s อีกครั้ง และผมก็ชอบแบบนั้นเหมือนกัน!

- ผมมั่นใจว่าคลังสะสมแผ่นเสียงของคุณจะต้องมีขนาดมหึมาแน่ๆ มีวงไหนบ้างไหมที่คุณเก็บครบทุก format ตามที่ปรากฎใน

discography ของสะสมชิ้นไหนที่คุณมีแล้วคิดว่าหายากที่สุด และคุณคิดว่าอะไรที่หายากที่สุดสำหรับของสะสมของ

Tankard ผมมีงานโปรโมอยู่ตัวนึงซึ่งก็ไม่รู้จะเรียกมันว่าอะไรดีเหมือนกัน ผมได้มาฟรีจากเพื่อนคนนึง มันคล้ายๆกับเป็นฟิล์ม

ภาพถ่ายแต่เอาไปหมุนเล่นได้เหมือนแผ่น 7” มันคือ Tankard - Commandments สปลิตกับ Celtic Frost – Roses

without Thorns ผมไม่รู้ว่างานตัวนี้มันอาจจะเป็นของไร้ค่าสำหรับใครบางคนหรือเปล่า และผมคงไม่บอกว่าของสะสมชิ้นนี้

เป็นของหายากที่ผมมี ผมแค่คิดว่ามันเป็นแผ่นเสียงที่แปลกมากๆแผ่นนึงและผมก็โคตรชอบเลย! คุณคิดยังไงกับคนที่ยอมจ่าย

เงินก้อนโตเพื่อให้ได้มาซึ่งของหายากในอีเบย์

ของสะสมผมจะเป็นซีดีเยอะกว่า ถ้าเป็นซีดีน่าจะราวๆ 4,000 แผ่น ส่วนแผ่นเสียงก็อีกสัก 800 แผ่นได้ วงโปรดของผมในยุค 80s ก็คือ

Anvil, Omen, Exciter, Exodus ฯลฯ และแน่นอนว่าผมมีอัลบัมของพวกเขาทุกชุดและทุก format ใน discography ส่วนของหายากที่สุด

ของ Tankard ที่ผมมีก็คือแผ่นทดลองของอัลบัมต่างๆที่ยังไม่มีการปั๊มสังกัดอะไรลงบนแผ่น เลย และแน่นอนว่าผมก็มีแผ่นซิงเกิลที่สปลิตกับ

Celtic Frost นั่นด้วยเหมือนกัน เอาเป็นว่าทุกคนมีสิทธิที่จะทำอะไรก็ได้ตามที่พวกเขาอยากจะทำ แต่ส่วนตัวผมไม่คิดจะจ่ายเงินเยอะแยะ

มากมายเพื่อของพรรค์นั้น ยกเว้นของวงเราเอง... (หัวเราะ)

- คุณคิดยังไงกับ Accept – Blood of the Nations เพลงไหนเป็นเพลงที่คุณชอบที่สุด และอัลบัมไหนของ Accept ที่คุณ

ชอบที่สุด

นับเป็นการกลับมาที่ยิ่งใหญ่มากๆของพวกเขา นอกจากงานใหม่แล้วผมก็ยังหลงรักงานเก่าๆของพวกเขาด้วย เพราะฉะนั้นอัลบัมที่ผมชอบที่

สุดก็คือ Restless And Wild ส่วนเพลงที่ชอบที่สุดในอัลบัมชุดใหม่ก็น่าจะเป็น Teutonic Terror โคตรติดหูเลย!

- อัลบัมชุดไหนของ Motörhead ที่คุณชอบที่สุด และเพราะอะไร คุณคิดว่าถ้าคุณมีอายุเท่าๆกับ Lemmy คุณจะยังเล่น

Thrash อยู่ไหม

ผมชอบ Motörhead มาก โดยเฉพาะการที่พวกเขายังอยู่ตรงนี้ไม่ไปไหนและไม่เคยยอมหมดไฟ! แต่ผมก็ชอบงานเก่าๆมากกว่าอย่างอัลบัม

Ace of Spades และ Overkill เพลงจากอัลบัมพวกนี้จะติดหูกว่า แต่งานใหม่ๆที่ออกมาก็ยังโอเคอยู่! ถ้าผมยังร้องเพลง Empty Tankard

ตอนอายุ 65 น่ะเหรอ มันคงจะสุดยอดน่าดูเลยว่ะ!

- อัลบัม Vol(l)ume 14 ก็ออกมาแล้ว แผ่นของผมยังมาไม่ถึงเลย คงใช้เวลาสักพักกว่าจะเดินทางมาจากที่นั่นได้โดยเฉพาะ

แผ่น LP (หัวเราะ) เนื่องจากว่าผมยังไม่ได้ฟังจากแผ่นก็เลยอยากให้คุณเล่าถึงอัลบัมชุดใหม่ หน่อย มันออกมาในทิศทางเดิม

แบบอัลบัมชุดอื่นๆก่อนหน้านี้ หรือว่ารอบนี้มีอะไรแปลกใหม่ ภาษาเยอรมันผมก็ไม่รู้เรื่องหรอกนะแต่ได้ยินมาว่า Vol(l) นั้นยัง

หมายความถึงคำว่า “เมา” ในภาษาเยอรมันด้วยใช่ไหม แต่รับรองว่าผมรู้จักคำว่า PROST!!! เป็นอย่างดี YEAHH… PROST!!!

เรามีการเปลี่ยนโปรดิวเซอร์ ฉะนั้นอัลบัมชุดใหม่ก็จะได้ซาวน์ดออกมาใสกว่า ไม่คมมากเหมือนชุดก่อนๆนี้! ผมคิดว่ามันยังคงความเป็น Old

School Thrash อยู่ แต่อาจจะมีติด Melodic มาบ้างเหมือนหลายๆชุดก่อน ไม่ว่ายังไงมันก็ยังคงเอกลักษณ์เดิมของ Tankard อยู่ดี Voll ใน

ภาษาเยอรมันแปลว่าเมา นอกจากนี้เรายังเล่นเกมส์ทายคำลงไปในนั้นด้วย!! อย่างที่คุณเห็นบนหน้าปกอัลบัม มันจะมีขวดเบียร์วางอยู่ 14

ขวด และเหลือที่ว่างสำหรับวางได้อีก 6 ขวด เพราะฉะนั้นคุณหวังได้เลยว่าจะมีอัลบัมเต็มของ Tankard ออกมาอีก 6 ชุดอย่างแน่นอน!!!!!
